Nurturing Young Minds: Insights from Our Recent Farm Classes

There's something special about watching curiosity bloom in the same place seeds do. Over the past few weeks at the farm, we've had the joy of hosting two unforgettable classes filled with discovery, laughter, and meaningful learning for our young farmers.

Living vs. Non-Living: Discovering the World Around Us

In our first class, we explored the big question: What makes something alive?

The children became little detectives, using their senses to investigate the farm. We touched the soil, observed plants, and even watched the animals in action

Together, we learned that living things grow, need water, and change over time, while non-living things like rocks and tools do not.

There were plenty of "aha" moments as the kids sorted objects and shared their ideas. Watching them connect the dots between nature and everyday life was like seeing tiny lightbulbs flicker on across the garden.

Ladybugs, Life Cycles & a Joyful Easter Celebration

Our second class brought even more excitement with the magical world of ladybugs. The children learned about the life cycle of these tiny helpers, from eggs to larvae to their bright red spotted form. We talked about how ladybugs help protect plants making them true farm friends. They helped me release ladybugs into the garden and watched them work.

But the day didn't stop there....

With spring in the air we celebrated Easter with a fun egg hunt in the garden. Little feet dashed through the garden, baskets in hand, laughter echoing between rows of plants it was pure joy. And in the middle of all the fun we paused for something deeper we shared the true meaning of Easter, reminding the children that it's not just about eggs and treats but about Jesus, His love, and the hope He brings.

More Than Just a Class

Each class at the farm is more than just an activity it's a space where children connect with nature, build friendships and learn lessons that stay with them long after they leave.

From understanding the difference between living and non-living things to discovering the role of ladybugs and celebrating Easter with purpose, these moments are planting seeds not just in the soil but in their hearts.
