Spring is the perfect time to explore the wonders of nature, especially for children eager to learn about the world around them. This coming spring, a unique opportunity awaits young learners aged 2 to 12: a series of science and faith-themed classes held right on the farm. These classes offer a hands-on experience where children can discover how ecosystems work and how faith connects with the natural world. Designed to be age-appropriate, the classes are split into two groups—toddlers and preschoolers, and school-age kids—ensuring that every child can engage meaningfully with the material.

Classes Designed for Different Age Groups

The farm classes are divided into two main groups to match the developmental stages of the children:

  • Toddlers and Preschoolers (Ages 2-4)

These classes focus on sensory experiences and simple concepts. Young children will explore the farm through touch, sight, and sound, learning about plants, animals, and the environment in a playful and gentle way. Activities might include planting seeds, listening to bird songs, and observing insects.

  • School-Age Kids (Ages 5-12)

Older children will dive deeper into the ecosystem's workings. They will learn about food chains, soil health, water cycles, and the role of different animals and plants on the farm. The lessons will also include discussions on how faith relates to caring for the earth, encouraging respect and responsibility for nature.

Both groups will participate in a series of five classes, each building on the previous one to create a comprehensive understanding of the farm ecosystem.

What Each Class Covers

The series is structured to gradually introduce children to the complex relationships within an ecosystem, using the farm as a living classroom. Here’s a brief overview of the topics covered in the five classes:

*1st Class invites children to explore living and non-living things and the special way they work together in God's creation. We will discover how plants, animals, soil, water, air, and sunlight all depend on one another to grow and thrive. Through hands-on activities and simple discussions, kids will see that every part of the ecosystem has a purpose.

*2nd Class children will learn about the life cycle of a ladybug and discover how God designed these tiny insects to grow and change. We will explore each stage from egg to adult through hands-on activities and simple science for the little ones. As we celebrate Easter we will also talk about new life and God's beautiful creation, connecting the joy of the season with the wonders of nature.

*3rd Class children will dig into the world of soil and learn why it is so important for plants, animals, and people. We will explore what soil is made of, how it helps plants grow, and how it supports life all around us. As we celebrate Earth Day, we will also talk about caring for God's creation and simple ways we can help keep our earth healthy and strong.

*4th Class children will learn about pollinators and the important job they do helping plants grow and make food. We will explore how bees, butterflies, and other pollinators work hard to care for flowers and gardens. As we celebrate Mother's Day, we will also talk about love, care, and how God designed pollinators to nurture His creation, just like mothers nurture their families.

*5th Class children will learn about the food web and how plants and animals are connected in God's creation. We will explore who eats what and how energy moves through nature, helping everything stay balanced and healthy. As we observe Memorial Weekend, we will also take a gentle moment to talk about gratitude and remembering, connecting thankfulness with caring for the world God has given us.

How Faith is Integrated into Learning

The classes are designed to blend science with faith in a way that is accessible and meaningful for children. This approach helps kids see the natural world as a gift to be respected and protected.

Benefits of Learning on the Farm

Learning outdoors on a farm offers several advantages over traditional classroom settings:

  • Hands-On Experience

Children can touch, see, and interact with living plants and animals, making lessons more memorable.

  • Connection to Nature

Spending time outside helps children develop a deeper appreciation for the environment.

  • Physical Activity

Moving around the farm supports healthy development and keeps kids engaged.

  • Social Interaction

Group activities foster teamwork and communication skills.

Parents have shared that their children return home excited to share what they’ve learned, often showing more curiosity about nature and a stronger desire to care for the environment.

Preparing for the Classes

To make the most of these farm classes, parents should consider the following:

  • Dress children in comfortable clothes suitable for outdoor activities, including sturdy shoes and hats.

  • Bring water bottles and sunscreen to stay hydrated and protected from the sun.

  • Encourage children to ask questions and share their observations during and after each class.

  • Discuss the lessons at home to reinforce learning and faith connections.

Registration and Schedule

The classes will begin March 19,2026 with the last class ending in May 7,2026. Parents can register their children for the appropriate age group. Spaces are limited to ensure a quality experience with plenty of individual attention.
